Read Me First. A Beginner’s Guide to Taking Care of Men's Skin
Relax, you’ve taken the most important step in taking care of your skin. You’ve realized you need to start taking care of it! Now that you’re here, there are few key things to keep in mind for your skin to look like when you first got to college.
- Consistency is key, keep using the products every day. You won’t see results after three days, or seven. Remember that friend who told you last week that you look hungover even after you slept eight hours?
- Clean your face, moisturize your face, protect your face
Clean your face:
No don’t pick up the bar of soap! Soap contains harsh ingredients that dry out your skin. Use a facial cleanser and lukewarm, not hot, water.
Moisturize your face:
Moisturizers work in many different ways. Most block the evaporation of water from your skin, other moisturizers pull water into your outer layer of skin from the air and deeper layers of the skin.
Depending on what you want. You can either use a moisturizer after washing your face, or you can use a face moisturizer and an eye cream.
Protect your face:
Sunlight is partially responsible for aging, I repeat, sunlight is partially responsible for aging. After you moisturize, put on facial sunscreen to protect yourself from those rays! Think it’s a rain jacket shielding you from the rain.
